So, erm... I really really miss RPing in general, and especially the old forum RPGs. They were amazing. I've tried a couple of RPs on Livejournal since then, but none of them had the same combination of informality, creativity, serious plot, off-the-wall crackiness, and lovely lovely people. Now, I don't intend to try and recreate such a thing over again - that would be pointless and inevitably a failure - but I don't see the harm in trying something new!

If anyone would like to join up, I have a proposal...

I said that the LJ RPs I tried didn't work for me, however, I think Livejournal is a really good way to RP - it's easy and intuitive to use, and has a couple of features which would be nice to use with an RPG. What I suggest is that a community should be started called something like deadcomix_rp or deadforum_rp.

An LJ comm, for those who don't know, is sort of like a joint blog where anyone who's got posting access can post an entry, and other people can comment on it.

The way it would work would be that posting access would be moderated at first - people would post character sheets, and the maintainers (probably me and anyone else who wants to help) would approve them, which allows them to be displayed on the site.

Then, the maintainer/GM would post to the comm with the scene description and NPC dialogue, etc. Then the players would comment to that entry with what their character does and says, responding to other people's comments if their characters have a conversation, etc. It works quite easily in practice, I promise!

I have a couple of ideas for some interesting RP storylines - mainly set in the Trenham Compass ([link]) universe - which would allow for a combination of plot and character development.

The RP would be very informal and I doubt posting would be too fast for anyone to keep up with, so even if you're only going to be around sporadically it's worth joining up!

Making an LJ account is very easy, and you don't really need to use it for anything other than commenting to the RP comm if you don't want to. In fact, if you're just going to use it as an RP journal, it might be nice to put your character sheet in the profile for reference I know some people have accounts already, so I guess you can either use those or make a new one for RPing.

If there's enough interest I'm going to pimp this out to my friends-list on LJ as well, because they're all lovely and I think you guys would like them
